Learn to read and write Japanese, one kanji story at a time. Every kanji is a short animated scene that strips down into its strokes, so the picture becomes how you remember it.

Independent app studio
Bentoware builds AI-native apps for iPhone and iPad. We're starting with language learning, and making a few other things that should exist along the way.
In short: Bentoware is an independent software studio that builds AI-native apps for iPhone and iPad. Our first focus is language learning, with Kanji Doodle, an app for learning to read and write Japanese. We also make Frocklings (a sewing game for young children on iPad), Fineshot (a screenshot and photo editor), ankicli (open-source tooling that lets AI agents run Anki study) and Fold & Soar (paper airplane guides). We build with AI agents throughout development.
Each one does one job well. The apps are native Swift, designed for touch and Apple Pencil, and everything is built with AI from the first commit.

A felt-and-fabric sewing game for ages 4–7. Animal friends bring a wish; you design, cut and sew the dress, then watch them twirl at their party.
A focused editing studio for iPhone and iPad. Import a screenshot or photo, make clean edits, share the result.
A local-first Anki control surface for AI agents. Installed by humans, operated by agents. It brings goal-driven study plans to the flashcards learners already have.
Step-by-step folding guides for 44 paper airplanes, plain advice for dives, stalls and turns, and a free 3D folding app.
More languages, more ways to practice, and small utilities we want for ourselves. If it helps someone learn or make something, it might end up in the box.
A small studio working with AI agents throughout: design, code, art direction, testing and content. That lets a small studio ship like a much larger one, without losing the craft.
Feedback on handwriting, memory hooks, practice that adapts to you. Never a chatbot bolted on for its own sake.
Swift, built for Apple devices, offline-first where it can be. Five to ten good minutes a day beats an hour of homework.
Agents write and test much of the code. People own the vision, the taste and the final call on what ships.
Partnerships, early access, press, or just a kanji you think deserves a better story.
